Cloud & Rain Demonstration: Visual/Sensory

Fill a clear cup about 3/4 full with water. Top the water with a shaving cream cloud. Have your child squeeze drops of food coloring onto the shaving cream until it starts to “rain” into the water. Use multiple colors for a more dramatic effect!

Walking Water: Science Activity

Science Activity: Walking Water! Place one or two cups filled with colored water slightly higher than a cup that is empty. Place a strip of paper towel from the top cup, ensuring it touches the bottom, down to the lower cup. Now watch what happens as the paper towel will absorb and siphon the water down into the lower cup. It will take a while, but eventually the entire cup of water will empty into the bottom cup. Try using different colors of water to see what special effects you can make!

Glowing Flowers: Science Activity

Science Activity: Glowing Flowers! Completely immerse a flower in plain tonic water. Swish around to release air bubbles. Keep the flower submerged for 1-2 hours, then place it in a vase filled with regular water. Display under a black light to see it glow! Take the science experiment a step further, and carefully slice open the flower’s stem to see how the liquid travels up the stem to the petals.
