Help and guidance for center and family-based providers.
Our Technical Assistance Coordinator provides technical assistance to child care providers, businesses, and others interested in child care in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties.
What is Technical Assistance?
This program is specifically geared towards supporting and mentoring providers who care for infants or toddlers. Our Infant/Toddler Specialist will provide technical assistance to licensed family – and center-based child care providers who care have infants or toddlers enrolled in their programs.
Credentialing & Accreditation Support
Our Technical Assistance Program also guides providers in completing credentialing and accreditation requirements.
What is Credentialing?
The Maryland Child Care Credential program is a pathway to professional development. The program recognizes child care providers who go beyond the requirements of the licensing and registration regulations. Those who qualify receive payment for participating in the Credential program!
Accreditation is a process used to identify exemplary family and center-based child care programs – those that go above and beyond the norm. Research suggests that such high quality programs have long term benefits for children.
What is NAFCC Accreditation?
For Children: NAFCC Accreditation is an indicator that the family child care home offers safe, inviting spaces, nurturing care, and educational activities designed to meet the needs of all children while promoting individual development.
For Parents: NAFCC Accreditation is an indicator to parents to help identify responsive, stimulating child care. Parents can expect that their children are growing and learning in an environment that is responsive to their individual needs.
For Employers: NAFCC Accreditation is an indicator that family child care homes offer a stable, high-quality child care program which research has shown directly improves employee attendance, morale, and productivity.
For Communities: NAFCC Accreditation is an indicator that quality family child care providers are available to help to make communities attractive to families, signaling that children are cared for and educated during their early years and before and after school.
The Accreditation Program at The Promise Resource Center supports family childcare providers with becoming and remaining nationally accredited through the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC). Currently, there are 51 providers in Southern Maryland involved with the Accreditation Program at The Promise Resource Center. The Judith P. Hoyer Early Care and Education Enhancement Grants from the Maryland State Department of Education have assisted 50 Southern Maryland providers in obtaining their National Accreditation through NAFCC. Providers involved with the Accreditation Program have received support in the areas of technical assistance, mentoring, training and program improvements as they strive to meet the standards for accreditation which support well rounded, high quality child care.
