What is Conscious Discipline?

Conscious Discipline is a comprehensive evidence-based, trauma-informed self-regulation program that integrates social-emotional learning and discipline. Children walk through the doors of our schools equipped with the tools they have. For some children, these tools are exactly what the school experience requires. For others, their tool set is just emerging and their school success rests in our ability to add to those tools in a supportive way. By applying the 7 Powers and 7 Skills of Conscious Discipline children are able to build a skill set that will teach them how to self-regulate, build relationships, and solve social problems successfully.

Registration

REGISTRATION FORM NOW AVAILABLE. TO REGISTER, ALL ATTENDEES MUST SUBMIT A REGISTRATION FORM. FORM ONLY AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE. Registration is first come, first served. There are only 100 seats for this training. Once the training is filled, we will accept applications to be included on a wait list. Those on the list will be notified in the order of applications received if there is an opening. Registration forms must be submitted through email at info@thepromisecenter.org, a fax with the document to 301-290-0050, or by visiting our location. The Promise Resource Center will call to confirm registration status.

If a center is registering employees, please note Center Directors may only register up to 3 employees. The registration form must be filled out by the Center Director. Center Directors, please ensure each employee is available the day of the training before registering. If an employee becomes unable to attend after they are registered, their spot will not be replaced by another employee from that center.

Please accept or decline the optional lunch on your form. The Promise Resource Center will follow up with those requesting the optional lunch about payment. Do not submit payment until we have reached out to you. Attendees are provided an hour for lunch. For those who have opted out of the optional lunch, we recommend bringing a lunch or going somewhere local to CSM Prince Frederick.

All attendees must be at the training for the entire presentation to receive a certificate of completion and the Feeling Buddies Self Regulation Kit. Please plan the day accordingly.

About Amy Speidel

Amy Speidel is a national Conscious Discipline Master Instructor, teaching a social-emotional framework to teachers as well as parents that supports brain based self-regulation practices. She also works locally as a parent and life coach with Senders Pediatrics. Her passion for this work comes from over 40 years as a teacher, and her personal journey as a foster parent, adoptive parent, birth parent and now a grandparent. She believes that supporting adults in finding helpful ways to teach children how to problem solve when faced with challenging situations will create a healthier world for us all.

This training is paid for through funding received for the BRIDGE Project under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Grant # 1U79SM062471-01.
